Outside the door, Pearl is practically buzzing with jitters. The entire Diamond council is in there, and Rose had promised -- don't worry, sweet thing, I'll call you inside before long.
Of course, she is prepared! As Rose Diamond's pearl, she wouldn't dream of giving anything less than a dazzling performance. She wouldn't marr her name with mediocrity. Not that there's any reason she would! She was built a dancer, in perfect, effortless command of every muscle in her body. And she's lovely. Rose had told her so, cooed tingling licks of praise into her ear. Pearl has nothing to worry about.
Just-- heavens. All four Diamonds in a room, with her.
A curl of thick heat twists low in her abdomen.
Then, at last, Rose is calling for her. The knotted wire of her spine snaps upright like a soldier at attention, and she can hear the tremor to her own voice as she calls back "Yes, right away!"
Pearl allows herself a moment to close her eyes and breathe in, before finally making her entrance. She carries it out with as much grace and flourish she's able -- a conscious effort where it shouldn't be, joints prickling with her own awareness. A glide, a leap, a pivot, and then she drops to one knee at the foot of the table, hand pressed over her chest and head bowed.
When she opens her mouth to speak once more, it's all she can do to keep her heart from leaping out.
"Greetings, Your Graces. I am Rose Diamond's pearl, and it is the highest of honors to be allowed in your illustrious presence."
No stutter; Pearl lets out a silent sigh of relief at that. But the nervous knot in her belly persists all the same, and she steals a quick glance up at Rose through the veil of her hair -- anxious in equal parts for approval and further instructions.
